Birthday party fun
Here are ten tips you can follow to have a successful birthday party.
Tip one:
Tie a bouquet of balloons to your mailbox, porch, or apartment door so that it is easy for your guests to find the party. Have your child select the colors of the balloons or use colors that coordinate with the theme you are having. Using the balloons will also help pizza delivery or entertainers find your house easily.
Tip two:
Have the entire family get involved with your child’s birthday party. Give each family member specific duties, especially the siblings. For example, one person is in charge of the decorations, while somebody else is in charge of kids games. You can also put people in charge of taking pictures or answering the door. There are plenty of things to be done for the birthday party to be a success; you can find something for all ages so that nobody is left out.
Tip three:
Siblings can often get jealous over a birthday party for their brother or sister. If you have other children, it is important that you give them some extra attention on the day of the birthday party, but you still have to remember that the limelight is on the birthday child. Having the siblings, help with the party is a great way to make them feel needed and involved.
Tip four:
Prepare your child for the party. Talk to them about what you expect them to do and how you expect them to act during the party. Go over the rules for the party with your child a few days before and the day of the party to help them remember what is expected of them. Discuss with your child the importance of good manners, and not being greedy or selfish. You should also go over what areas of the house are going to be off limits to guests.
Tip five:
If you have, pets make sure that they are protected from the party guests. Birthday parties can be a stressful event for your pets, which can cause them to act differently than normal. You also need to think about the people involved, not everybody is going to be used to pets in the house, so the kids won’t know how to react either. Lock your pets in a safe area, one that is off limits to guests.
Tip six:
When the children arrive for the party have them take their shoes off by the front door. By doing this you can ensure that, you know where the shoes are when the parents come to pick up the kids. Children love to take their shoes off and play in their socks, which mean shoes can get lost. In addition, having no shoes on in the house saves your carpets.
Tip seven:
Keep sugar and caffeine at a minimal level for children. Children have enough energy without adding chemicals to the mix. Instead, offer water, juices, or lemonades for the children to drink. Instead of offering candy and sweets, try serving pretzels or carrots. They will get enough sugar with the cake and ice cream that is served later on.
Tip eight:
Using nametags at the party can help put most people at ease. At parties, not everybody knows each other and trying to remember names can be stressful. Using nametags will ensure that people are addressed by their name or desired nickname, it can also help adults and children to remember people’s names.
Tip nine:
Have a special spot assigned for presents, such as a large cardboard box, which will keep everything together in one place. When opening the gifts be sure to write down who bought what so that thank you cards can be sent later on.
Tip ten:
Have lots of activities planned for the children, this way they will not have time to be bored. Keep the party down to about two hours, any shorter and you won’t have time to get stuff done and any longer and the party seems to drag on.
